William T. Beck
Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry
Lieutenant Colonel Will Beck graduated from Moravian College with a degree in History, and earned a commission as an Infantry Officer from Lehigh University in 1992. Will’s first assignment was in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, where he served as a light infantry platoon leader and company executive officer. In the summer of 1995, Will deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of Operation Sea Signal, the migration of some 40k Cubans to the United States.
Will attended the Infantry Officer Advanced Course in 1996 and was assigned to Ft. Drum, New York. In New York, Will served as a Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, Battalion S4, and commanded both a Line and Headquarters Company in 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment. Then-Captain Beck was re-assigned to Syracuse, New York as the Battalion Operations Officer (S3) of 2nd Battalion 314th Regiment supporting the 27th (e)SB. Will deployed as part of the Defense Coordinating Element in support of FEMA after the 9/11 attacks. For a month, CPT Beck assisted in the coordination of department of defense resources in the consequence management at Pier 90.
CPT Beck’s subsequent assignment brought him to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where he served as an Assistant Operations Officer and Adjutant for Operations Group Alpha of the Battle Command Training Program. Upon promotion to Major, he completed both the Command and General Staff College and the Advanced Military Studies Program. It was at Ft. Leavenworth where Will met his wife, the former Elizabeth Dubbell.
Major Beck was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in the summer of 2005 and performed the duties as Maneuver Planner and Battle Major for the division’s deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 from September of 2005 through August of 2006 in Tikrit, Iraq. Upon return to Ft. Campbell, Major Beck was assigned as the Operations Officer for 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment responsible for the train-up of the battalion for its subsequent deployment to Iraq. In April of 2007, Will assumed duties as Executive Officer of 3-187 IN until January of 2008, including the unit’s 14 month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09 in Yusufiyah, Iraq. In between deployments, Will and Elizabeth married on July 6th, 2007.
Will was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in April of 2009 and assumed the duties of Professor of Military Science at Oklahoma State University in June of the same year. Will and Elizabeth are the proud parents of Shelby Dubbell who is entering her junior year at Stillwater High School.
