"The order, the self-discipline, the pride that had been instilled in me by ROTC was a tremendous companion to my basic liberal arts education and prepared me well for my Army career, or for that matter, any career I might have chosen." Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Chairman, The Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Army ROTC Program Overview: The primary thrust of our program is to commission the future leaders of the Army's Active and Reserve components. Our curriculum is designed to provide each student with the critical leader, managerial, and supporting skills required to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. Qualified students can complete our commissioning program while pursuing any baccalaureate or advance degree program offered at Oklahoma State University. Students interested in participating in our freshman and sophomore Army ROTC classes may do so with "no service obligation".
The Army ROTC Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for the education and training of highly qualified and motivated men and women who desire to be commissioned as officers in the Army after graduation from college.
National Army ROTC Scholarships: High School students nationwide may apply for a merit based four-year National Army ROTC Scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University. National Scholarship benefits include 100% payment of student tuition and fees for each semester of their approved academic plan of study. The scholarship also provides $1,200 per academic school year for textbooks and school supplies. In addition, scholarship cadets receive a monthly allowance of $300 for freshmen, $350 per month for sophomores, $450 per month for juniors and $500 per month for seniors for each month of the traditional ten-month school year. The tuition portion of the scholarship can be converted to an annual $10,000 room and board scholarship!
National Army ROTC Scholarship applications are available online at www.armyrotc.com. Applications may be submitted as early as the spring semester of the student's junior year of high school. The deadline for the submission of scholarship applications is 10 January of the student's senior year!
On-Campus Scholarship Opportunities: The Army ROTC program at Oklahoma State University offers four, three, and two-year merit based scholarships annually to full time students pursuing a baccalaureate degree program at the university's main campus at Stillwater, Oklahoma. Two year advanced degree scholarships are also available annually. Scholarship recipients receive the same financial benefits described for our National Scholarship recipients for the duration of their approved academic program!
Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP Program): Approximately fifty percent of the students enrolled in our ROTC Program concurrently serve in the Oklahoma National Guard or U.S. Army Reserve. The financial benefits associated with student participation in the SMP Program can equal or exceed the benefits received by students receiving national and on-campus scholarships!
